Thomas Nashe (1567-1601) was born in Suffolk, he settled in London about 1588, where he was rapidly drawn into the Martin Marprelate controversy (a pamphleteering attack on the clergy of the Church of England by Puritans), and wrote at least three attacks on the Martinists. Among his later works are the satirical Pierce Pennilesse (1592); the religious Christes Teares over Jerusalem (1593); and the comedy Summer's Last Will and Testament (1592).
