Ramakrlshna (1834-1886) was dedicated to achieving oneness with or a direct experience of God or some force beyond the normal world. Short Biography:
Ramakrishna claimed that mystical experience was the ultimate aim of religions, and that all religions which led to this goal were equally valid.
Ramakrishna's most important follower, Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902), set up the Ramakrishna Society in 1887, which now has centres for education, welfare, and religious teaching throughout India and beyond.
