Manfred Mann was born on Monday, October 21, 1940 in Gauteng, South Africa. He is a famous musician.

Biography and Career:

He learned classical music at the University of Witwatersrand, and worked as a Jazz pianist in Johannesburg. Along with his friend Harry Miller he recorded two albums as The Vikings - South Africa's first rock'n' roll band during 1959 to 1961.

In 1961 he shifted to UK after the apartheid system was introduced in South Africa which he opposed. In the same he started writing Jazz news under the pen name Manfred Manne which was later shortened to Manfred Mann. Later he met drummer and keyboard player Mike Hugg and they both together formed the blue jazz band called the Mann Hugg Blues Brothers. In 1963 they signed a deal with EMI under the HMV label.

In 1969 after the group spilt he started another band with Mike Hugg called the Manfred Mann Chapter three a Jazz rock band. After two albums this group also got dissolved. In 1971 he formed Manfred Mann's Earth Band which is still functional. He used often play live on MMEB.
