Fibonacci also known as Leonardo of Pisa (c. 1175 - c. 1250) was an Italian mathematician.
He published Liber abaci in Pisa in 1202, which was instrumental in the introduction of Arabic numerals into Europe.
One of the book's problems featured what are now called Fibonacci numbers, in their simplest form a sequence in which each number is the sum of its two predecessors (1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, ...).
They have unusual characteristics and are known to have applications in botany, psychology, and astronomy.
Why is Leonardo Fibonacci famous?
Leonardo Fibonacci is famous for a number sequence named after him known as the Fibonacci numbers.
