Karl Schmidt-Rottluff Karl Schmidt-Rottluff (1884-1974) was a founder member of the movement Die Brucke in Dresden in 1905, active in Berlin from 1911.

Short Biography:

Influenced by van Gogh and the Fauves (seeMatisse), he developed a vigorous style of brushwork and a bold palette. He painted portraits and landscapes, and produced numerous woodcuts and lithographs.
