Josiah Spode (1754-1827) was a English potter, son of Josiah Spode the elder (an apprentice of Thomas Whieldon who started his own works at Stoke-onTrent in 1770), and his successor in the new firm in 1797. Short Biography:
He developed bone porcelain (bone ash, china stone, and china clay) around 1800, which was produced at all English factories in the 19th century, and became potter to King George III in 1806.
