Jerry Colbert grew up in Winter Park, Florida. While growing up in Florida, he learned from his father how to play the guitar and sing. Growing up in the Colbert household he was influenced by records of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Ricky Nelson, Ritchie Valens, Merle Travis, Merle Haggard, and a few others.

After high school, Jerry Colbert enlisted in the Marine Corp for 4 years. While in the Marine Corp, he gained confidence in playing his guitar and singing. After the Marine Corp, he married and lived in several places (Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina). He was divorced later and moved back to Nashville, TN where he is doing what he loves more, music.
