Ivan Ljubicic was born on March 19, 1979 in Banja Luka, Bosnia-Herzegovina. He is a great tennis player.

Biography and Career :

His parents are Hazira and Marko Ljubicic. The tennis career started when he was nine years old in 1988. Because at the beginning of 1992 started the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina his mother along him and his brother moved to Croatia, while his father had to stay in Bosnia until the end of the year.

His first junior championship victory came in 1995 and the successes continue to come for him. After one year he was playing the final at Wimbledon as a junior and in 1997 the semi-final at Australian Open. Since 1997 Riccardo Piatti is his coach and they had together many important victories. In 1998 he turned a professional player and until now he has won eight titles, but not a single Grand Slam title.

* His first title came in 2001 at the Lyon tournament, where he beat Younes El Aynaoui. The other seven titles were won at Metz, Vienna, Chennai, Zagreb, Vienna again, Doha and Hertogenbosch.

* At the US Open he played in 2005 only in the first, second and third round. He had the same performances at Wimbledon in 2006 and 2007.

* In 2006 he played into the quarter-finals of Australian Open, but unfortunately, lost to Marcos Baghdatis and at the semi-finals of the French Open, where he was defeated by Rafael Nadal who won the Grand Slam title eventually.

* Until now he hasn't won any doubles title. In 2004 at the Athens Olympics he won the bronze doubles medal.

In 2004 he formed his own family after marrying Aida Shalabi, to whom he had been dating a long time. He is tall, powerful and talented and with these qualities it's not hard to obtain great victories. A long way is still ahead of him and we are sure he will remain in history.
