Fernand Leger (1881-1955) was a French painter, associated with Cuhism. Short Biography:
From around 1909 he evolved a characteristic style, composing abstract and semi-abstract works with cylindrical forms, reducing the human figure to robot components.
Mechanical forms are constant themes in his work, including his designs for the Swedish Ballet (1921-1922), murals, and the abstract film Le Ballet me'canique/The Mechanical Ballet.
