David Ferrer was born on April 2, 1982 in Javea, Spain. He is a tennis player placed on the 15th position of Top 100 the year of 2007.
Biography and Career :
When he was thirteen years old he moved to Gandia and after two years to Barcelona in order to attend the Catalan Tennis Federation. He trained at Equelite for nine months. This is Juan Carlos Ferrero's Academy in Villena. 2000 is the year when he became a professional tennis player.
Until now (2007) he had won three titles in tournaments like the one at Bucharest, Stuttgart and Auckland. The first one was won
in 2002 in Romania and his opponent in the final was Jose Acasuso from Argentina. The second one was won against the same opponent, Jose Acasuso in 2006, but this time the score was tight 6-4, 3-6, 6-7(3), 7-5, 6-4. For the third title he beat Tommy Robredo in the final; this was happening on the 13th of January 2007.
Between 2002 and 2005 he played three other tournament finals, but lost to players like Carlos Moya, Guillermo Coria and Igor Andreev. In 2005 and 2006 he played into the third round at US Open, but lost to Hrbaty and Mikhail Youzhny. At Wimbledon he played in 2006 the fourth round, but, unfortunately, Hewitt beat him and couldn't continue.
His best performance at a Grand Slam was in 2005 when he played into the quarter-finals. Rafael Nadal was the one who beat him and he turned out to be the champion of that year even if it was the first time there.
The Australian Open came in 2006 and 2007 with results in the fourth round, but every time he stopped there.
