Cecil James Sharp (1859-1924) work ensured that the English folk-music revival became established in school music throughout the English-speaking world.Short Biography:
He travelled the country to record and save from extinction the folk-song tradition, for example English Folk Song in 1907 (two volumes). In the USA he tracked down survivals of English song in the Appalachian Mountains and elsewhere.
