Buju Banton was born on July 17, 1973 in Kingston, Jamaica. He is a famous Jamaican dancehall, ragga, and reggae musician. His birth name is Mark Anthony Myrie. Buju was the youngest of fifteen children born into a family which was directly descended from the Maroons, a group of escaped slaves who proudly fought off the British colonialists. At the age of twelve he tried a lot with the microphone and copied most of his favorite artists. After his introduction with the famous producer, Robert French in 1986 and he did recordings with famous producers like, Patrick Roberts, Bunny Pee, Winston Riley, and Digital B.
During his career he gave many hit albums such as: "Rasta Got Soul", "Too Bad", "Friends for Life", "Unchained Spirit", "Inna Heights", "Mr Mention" and "Stamina Daddy".
Buju
as fined the equivalent of US$9000 for the possession and cultivation of cannabis after 2 mature marijuana plants were discovered growing at his studio in December 2003.
