Adopted name of Emil Anton Bundmann (1906-1967) was an American film director who made a series of violent but intelligent 1950s Westerns starring James Stewart, such as Winchester '73 in 1950.
He also directed one of the best film epics, £7 Cid in 1961. His other films include The Glenn Miller Story in 1954 and A Dandy in Aspic in 1968.
