Biography and Career :
He was born in a family whose origins are Italian and Dutch. His father is Italian and his mother has Dutch origins. He came to the United States of America when he was 25. He planned to become a teacher. His life took another course in 1988, when LaPaglia got a phone call from his agent. That year he became an one hundred percent actor in films like "Cold Steel" (1987) and another movies makes his first real success in 1990, with "Betsy's Wedding" and "Mortal Sins".
In 1991, Anthony LaPaglia shows up in a top of "Promising New Actors", being one of the first 12 actors at that year. He has the look of a friendly city policeman. His image helped him
to set many of his part as a cop. Another parts as a "nice guy" he took in "He Said she Said", "29th Street", "One Good Cop". An important part in his career remains the character Frank Nitti, the gangster of Al Capone in "Hitti: The Enforcer"(1988).
His private life is as balanced as his career. He has been married to Gia Carides since September, 1998. They have a child together.
