Pen name of Louis-Charles-Adelaide Chamisso de Boncourt (1781-1831) was a German writer of the story 'Peter Schlemihi', the man who sold his shadow.
Short Biography:
The son of a French family who left France because of the French Revolution, he was subsequently a botanist with Otto von Kotzebue's trip around the world 1815-1818, recounted in Reise urn de Welt in 1821.
His verse includes the cycle of lyrics Frauenliebe und Frauenleben in 1831, set to music by Schumann.
