Jay Jenkins grew up in Macon, Georgia. His parents were separated hence his custody was transferred between family members one by one. He was interested in song writing. He began his career in 2001 and released his first album Thuggin Under the Influence.
In 2003 he released one more independent album Come Shop With Me. After that in 2005 he joined Boyz n da Hood and his solo major label debut Lets Get It: Thug Motivation 101 was released.
