Born in a small town in Almere, Netherlands, Yfke Sturm is the daughter of an environmental inspector and a journalist.
She grew up playing sports with her two brothers and planning a future in sports medicine.
That all changed one day in 1998, at a mall in Amsterdam where she was approached by a scout for Elite Models.
Determined to start working immediately, she balanced work and school successfully, dividing her time between New York, Paris and Amsterdam.
After completing school, she became one of the world's top models.
Yfke Sturm has worked for many international fashion magazines such as Vogue, Haper's Bazaar, Elle,
Marie Claire, Allure, Cosmo, L'Officiel, gracing many covers as well.
Her advertising campaigns include Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Emporio Armani, Gianfranco Ferre, DKNY, Escada, H&M, and Carolina Herrera. Most recently she shot for Pantene, Laboratoires de Garnier (L'oreal), Boitherm (L'oreal), and XoXo.
The 5' 11" teenager had never thought about being a model, but agreed to enter the 1998 Elite Model Look Contest.
Winning not only Dutch nationals, but also the top prize at the International event in Nice, France, her career in fashion began shortly thereafter.
