Yale Naim was born in Paris in 1978 to Tunisian parents.

Biography and Career:

They moved to Ramat HaSharon, Israel when Yael was very young. There she started learning classical piano when she was just 4 years of age.

The teenage Yael loved listening to The Beatles, Joni Mitchell and Aretha Franklin. At the age of 18, she was already penning down her own songs. Initially, she performed with the band of Winston Marsalis in Tel Aviv, Israel.

She had to give military service to her country, as is mandatory, for two years. While she was there, she performed in an air-force orchestra and, thereafter, formed her own band, Anti-Collision. After an excellent performance at a charity gig in the French capital, < a href="http://regions.famouswhy.com/paris/" target="_blank">Paris, she was offered a record deal with EMI Music. Along with that, she starred in The ten Commandments and sung in the movie Harrison�s Flowers.

Her debut album, in a Man�s Womb was released in 2001 under the EMI label. But, the album didn�t provide much success and Yael also broke-up in the meantime. But that didn�t drown her spirits. She kept on doing stage productions for films like Gladiator, until she met percussionist David Conatien.

With a rejuvenated enthusiasm, Yael and David released a new album in 2007. It reached #15 in the French charts and included tracks in three languages � English, French and Hebrew. The success came when the licensing rights for her single "New Soul" was purchased by Steve Jobs for using it with Apple�s Macbook Air laptop.
