Xenophon, (c. 430-354 BC) was a disciple of Socrates (described in Xenophon's Symposium). Short Biography:
In 401 he joined a Greek mercenary army aiding the Persian prince Cyrus, and on Cyrus's death, took command. His Anabasis describes how he led 10,000 Greeks in a 1,000-mile march home across enemy territory. His other works include Memorabilia and Apology.
