Willie Howard Mays, Jr. (born in 1931) was an American baseball player, born in Westfield, Alabama, who played for 22 years with the New York (later San Francisco) Giants (1951-1972) and the New York Mets (1973).
He hit 660 career home runs, third best in baseball history, and was also an outstanding fielder and runner. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979.
