William Howard has a comprehensive list of his services for United States. He served as 10th Chief Justice of the United States from June 30, 1921 to February 3, 1930, 1st Provisional Governor of Cuba, 42nd United States Secretary of War, 1st Civil Governor of the Philippines and also 5th United States Solicitor General.
In his first and only term, President William Howard Taft's domestic agenda was focused on trust building, civil service reforms, strengthening the Interstate Commerce Commission, improving the performance of the postal service, and passage of the Sixteenth Amendment. William Howard sought the further as the
economic development of undeveloped nations in Latin America and Asia through the method he termed with Dollar Diplomacy. However, Taft often alienated his own key constituencies, and was defeated in his second term presidential election of 1912.
In his presidency period from 1909 to 1913 he achieved a lot of things that honored him in US population. He focused the domestic polices and brought many reforms in domestic polices. In his presidency, he also reviewed the foreign policy to meat the challenges of that time. Taft worked with civil rights and was reluctant to use federal authority to enforce the 15th amendment to the U.S. Constitution that allowed African Americans the right to vote. He also run his election campaign for 2nd term but was defeated for the 2nd time President.
After his Presidency, he served as Professor of Law at Yale for sometime and than he was made Chief Justice of the United States by President Harding. He served at this post till just before his death in 1930.
