Wild Orchid are an American pop vocal group. They are led by one Ms. Stacy Ferguson (a.k.a. Fergie), who was once the sole female member of the band called The Black Eyed Peas.
Career:
Wild Orchid started in the year 1990. This happened when Renee Sandstrom and Stefanie Ridel met in their southern California high school's drama department. The thing that brought Renee and Stefanie together was their common love for poetry, music, and taste for fame. Renee and Stefanie decided to form a music group together soon after they met. In the starting, they called themselves by the name New Rhythm Generation or NRG (energy). Fergie had co-starred with Renee in the Disney Channel singing TV show Kids Incorporated from 1984 to 1987. Further, as they came up with their songs, they recorded their first song single called "Get Crazy – Work It". The girls also started began coming up with dance numbers for their music. It is widely known that beauty and talent would go hand in hand for a long way. Renee, Stefanie and Stacy sent a portfolio of photographs out along with their demo tapes. The girls began performing and singing at nightclubs, charity functions, and began hanging out and singing live at local radio stations without actually waiting around for a record company to call them.
Wild Orchid began having meetings with many record labels that include RCA, EMI, and Capitol, but they still could not manage to get a recording contract to work with. Ultimately, they signed a music publishing deal with Sony Publishing. They subsequently signed a record contract with RCA Records in 1994. Sadly, just before doing so, Micki left the group because she was working on a television show called Roundhouse. So the quartet became a trio consisting of Stacy, Stefanie, and Renee.
Fergie revealed later in an interview that both frustrations with the band's image and personal drug problems caused her to leave Wild Orchid.
