Westlife are a pop group from the country of Ireland. They formed in the year 1998 on 3 July. The group's member lineup was Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, Shane Filan and Brian McFadden.
Career:
The last dude left from the band in 2004 because of reasons of personal nature, though well publicised. Westlife are the only band in British or Irish history who have had their first seven single songs go straight to Number 1 on the charts. They have successfully gone on to to over 44 million records worldwide in sales which include their studio, single, video, and compilation albums. Despite the band's global success, they've only had one U.S. hit on the Billboard Hot 100 charts: "Swear It Again", which made it to the top 50 in the year 2000, Number 20 on the charts to be pre
cise.
Westlife were initially managed by the famous Simon Cowell and they are currently managed by the famous Louis Walsh. They collected 14 number one single songs in the United Kingdom, the highest in history of the UK, tallying with Cliff Richard and trailing behind the one and the only Elvis Presley and The Beatles. The band has also broken many a few top records. These include "Music artist with most consecutive number 1's in the UK". It was formally announced by the Official Charts Company that they are the "2nd biggest selling artist" (falling behind Robbie Williams) and "Biggest selling band of the decade" (beating their competitor Coldplay) in the UK with 11 million in album sales.
On the date 1 June 2008, Westlife celebrated their 10th anniversary with a concert in the place called Croke Park in the state of Dublin. This event brought more than 83,000 fans attending the special occasion at the same time. The Music Week revealed on its website that Westlife is the official third top touring act that happened between the period 2005–2008. They were the 7th top touring band of 2008.
