Virginia Ruano PascualVirginia Ruano Pascual was born on September 21, 1973 in Madrid, Spain. She is a professional tennis player.

Biography and Career :

She is a great tennis player and in January 1992 she has started her tennis career as a professional player. Until now (2007) she has won three WTA single titles, four ITF single titles, thirty-seven WTA doubles titles and ten ITF doubles titles.

She is famous especially as a fabulous doubles player and has won eight Grand Slam doubles titles. Her first WTA single title came in May 1997 at Cardiff where she beat in the final Alexia Dechaume-Balleret.

The other two were conquered at Budapest and Tashkent, against Silvia Farina Elia and Saori Obata, the first in 1998 and the second in 2003. Paola Suarez is her doubles partner and together they have won four titles at Roland Garros, in 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2005, three titles at US Open in 2002, 2003 and 2004 and one title at Australian Open in 2004.

In 2000 and 2003 they played the final at the French Open, but lost every time. At Wimbledon the two players played three finals in 2002, 2003 and 2006, but unfortunately were defeated. Another Grand Slam doubles final was played in 2003 at Australian Open and they lost to Serena Williams and Venus Williams.

She has another Grand Slam trophy, this time as a mixed doubles player, at the French Open along Tomas Carbonell in 2000. As a single player she has reached two quarter-finals at the Australian Open in 2003 and French Open in 1995. At the other two Grand Slam tournaments she has played into the fourth round at Wimbledon in 1998 and into the third round at US Open in 1998, 1999 and 2001.
