Vincent van Gogh was born on March 23, 1853 in Groot Zundert, Holland. He is a famous painter, classified as a Post-Impressionist.

Biography and Career :

His father was a protestant priest and his mother came from a family of painters.

Vincent van Gogh was only 16 when his mother got him a job in Haga. It seemed that his life was normal until in 1874 when he was transferred in London and fell in love with his host's daughter. He neglected his work and soon he was fired and sent home.

He wanted to be a priest as his father but studying was too hard so he quitted and dedicated to charity actions and this way arrived in Belgium in 1880.

He decided he wanted to be an artist but first he had to learn. Next year spent his time in Haga and Antwerpen.

In 1885 Vincent van Gogh went to Paris in Montmartre and had a few friends there as Cezanne, Toulouse, Lautrec, Seurat and Gauguin.

Vincent van Gogh wasn't able to integrate himself in the society, he stayed almost all day drunk and in 1888 decided to move in Arles, near Marseilles. There he worker 16 hours a day and painted in the nights on the field with candles in the hat for light.

His dream was to form a colony of artists and this way Gauguin came to him in October 1888. Soon after they didn't get along with each other and before Christmas after a fight van Gogh threw alcohol into Gauguin's face and attacked him with a knife. He run away and because Vincent was so furious he cut his own ear. In May 1889 he hospitalized himself in a mental hospital St.-Remy.

At the beginning of the year 1890 he went to Auvers and stayed in a small room above a café. Vincent van Gogh painted 70 pictures in 70 days.

Vincent van Gogh didn't survive to that way of life and on the 27th of July 1890 got out of the town and shot himself in the chest. He succeeded to got back in his room and smoke pipe all night, but in the end he passed away.

Vincent van Gogh painted all of his great works in the last 5 years of his life.
