Victor Mature was born in January 29, 1913 in Louisville, Kentucky and died in August 4, 1999. He was an American film actor.
Victor Mature was a son of Italian speaking father and Swiss-American heritage mother. His older brother died at the age of 11 in 1918 from osteomyelitis. Mature completed his education from parochial school, the Kentucky Military Institute and the Spencerian Business School. Before coming to California he worked in a restaurant.
Mature joined the U.S Navy in 1942 but he was rejected due to color blindness. After that he started acting in morale shows, he did a series of War Bond tours in 1944. For some time he joined USS Admiral
H.T Mayo as the Coast Guard but he was discharged from the Coast Guard in 1945 and he resumed his acting career.
In the coming days he was signed by John Ford in My Darling Clementine. After that for the next decade Mature worked as hard-boiled characters such as Westerns and Biblical films such as The Robe and its sequel Demetrius and the Gladiators. Apart from this he worked in Cecil B. DeMille's Bible epic, Samson and Delilah in 1949. He became popular due to his work in Biblical epics because he could "make with the holy look".
He worked in number of movies and in TV series during his career and earned name and fame.
