Usain participated in the IAAF World Youth Championships but couldn't reach the final rounds. However, he had achieved personal best times at the 400m at CARIFTA and at the IAAF.

He also won at his high school and at the Caribbean Junior and Central American Championships. He also became the youngest winner at the World Junior Championships in Kingston that year in the 200m run. Apart from achieving a new p ersonal best time, Usain also received a Puma sponsorship.

Usain has been running professionally since 2004. He smashed the record for the 200m run at the CARIFTA and at Summer Games held in Athens. But he couldn't participate in the Olympics owing to a leg wound. Usain entered the University of Technology in Jamaica even though he had scholarship offers from several US universities.

In 2005, Usain ran at the year's best speed in the 200m event at Crystal Palace, London. But he was injured at the World Championships that year. It was not about to stop the young Bolt and at the end of the year, he was ranked among the top five. The same ranking continued through 2006.

On the last day of May, 2008, Usain broke the world record for 100m run at the Reebok Grand Prix. After that, he also became the fastest 200m runner in country - a record which he broke at Athens.

In 2008, Usain rocked the Summer Games at Beijing when he created a new record for the 100m run. He also won the 200m and 100m races and participated in the 4x100 relay race behind Asafa Powell.

Why is he famous?
