Tommy Lee Jones was born on September15, 1946, in San Saba, Texas. He was a brilliant student and an excellent athlete in his school. He went to study at Harvard on a scholarship to study English. At Harvard, his roommate was Al Gore.
In 1969, he came back to USA and settled in New York City to establish a career in acting. He appeared in a number of Broadway productions and, finally, made it to the movies with a role in the movie Love Story (1970).
He also played in a number of TV series, most notably in the series "One Life to Live" on ABC as Dr. Mark Toland for 5 years. He also appeared in a number of TV shows like "Baretta" and "Charlie's Angels".
His role in the movie "The Executioner's Song" (1982) earned him an Emmy nomination. He got a high
er level of recognition in 1991 for his role in the movie "JFK" as Clay Shaw. This role earned him an Oscar nomination and, then, he acted in the movie "Under Siege" (1992). Tommy Lee Jones won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for the movie "The Fugitive" (1993).
During the later part of the 1990s and the early 2000s, Tommy Lee Jones acted in a number of hit movies including "Natural Born Killers", "Batman Forever" and "Space Cowboys". But none of them proved as successful as the movie "Men in Black" in 1997 and its sequel in 2002. Acting with Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones played the role of Agent K.
He also made his directorial debut with the movie "The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada". For his role in this movie, Tommy Lee Jones earned an Oscar for Best Actor. He also acted in the indie movie "A Prairie Home Companion" (2006).
In 2007, he got an Oscar nomination for the movie "In the Valley of Elah" and acted in movies like "No Country for Old Men" and "In the Electric Mist".
