Tomas Garrigue Masaryk (1850-1937) was a Czech nationalist politician.
Short Biography:
He directed the Czech revolutionary movement against the Austrian Empire, founding with Benes and Stefanik the Czechoslovak National Council, and in 1918 was elected first president of the newly formed Czechoslovak Republic.
Three times re-elected, he resigned in 1935 in favour of Benes.
