Biography and Career:
Thom Yorke was born on October 7, 1968, in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, England. After having to move a lot during his childhood, they settled in Oxfordshire. While in school, Thom formed the band On A Friday. In the early days, they used the instruments available in the school. Later on, they moved to Oxford and took up the name of Radiohead.
In 1993, Radiohead released their debut album titled “Pablo Honey”. The track “Creep” became a hit worldwide. But Thom Yorke felt that the song did not represent the true music of the band and, hence, didn’t play it on live events. After that came “The Bends”, their second album.
In 1997, the album “OK Computer” was released. Though the album had brought big success to the band, Thom Yorke was not sure about
the direction his music will take. Out of the block, came the next album, “Kid A” in 2000. In spite of not being marketed, the album scored platinum in its opening week.
The sound of guitars was rejuvenated with the album, “Hail to the Thief” in 2003. It featured political minded lyrics and Thom Yorke had said on a number of occasions that the name of the album is not aimed to maim
George W. Bush.
For the seventh album, the band used a different method. The album, “In Rainbows” was allowed for download on the band’s website and they gladly accepted whatever the fans paid for the album.
