Tegan and Sara is a Canadian rock band playing songs from the indie rock/New Wave/indie pop genres. They are identical twin sisters Tegan Rain Quin and Sara Keirsten Quin.

Both Tegan and Sara are very proficient at playing the guitar and keyboard and write amazing songs. The duo has come out with almost six studio albums from the year 1999. Their most recent album was titled Sainthood and they released it in 2009.
Tegan and Sara Quin were born September 19, 1980 in Calgary, Alberta. They started strumming the guitar and composing music at the young age of 15 years.
At the start, they played PLUNK sans a drummer or bass player. In the year 1997, they utilized their school’s studio to record their first two demo recordings with the titles “Who's in Your Band?” a
nd “Play Day”. In the year of 1998, they achieved top position in the Calgary's "Garage Warz" competition, aptly utilizing the invaluable studio time they had to record their first professional demo titled Yellow Demo, which was followed by Orange Demo and Red Demo. For a while they played as "Sara and Tegan" before deciding that it was easier to say "Tegan and Sara."
A couple of songs from their album Red Demo appeared on their first album that was called “Under Feet Like Ours”, which they released separately in the year 1999. Neil Young's manager signed them to Young's Vapor Records label, and they released This Business of Art through Vapor in 2000. They have toured extensively since then.
Their subsequent album in the year 2007 called “The Con” was released by Vapor and Sire because Sanctuary took a decision to no longer release new music in the USA. The release was co-produced by Chris Walla and Jason McGerr of Death Cab for Cutie, Matt Sharp of The Rentals and previously Weezer, Hunter Burgan of AFI, and Kaki King all appear on the album.
