He always wanted to become a professional hockey player and he used to play for Langley Hornets in the Canadian BHCL. But his ambition came to an end because of his knee injury. In 2002 he got an opportunity to model for IMG for which he shifted to New York. While working with IMG he did his acting course. Two years later he signed a deal with a production company Untitled Entertainment. After staying in New York he has become a certified nutritionist and personal trainer. He has also modeled for Diesel and Abercrombie & Fitch.
He currently stars in the NBC series Friday Night Lights. In this series he plays the role of Tim
Riggins who is a football player. He also played the role of Pogue Parry in "The Covenant" with Steven Strait, Sebastian Stan, Laura Ramsey, Toby Hemingway, Jessica Lucas and Chace Crawford.
He signed to play Gambit in the X-Men franchise spinoff X-Men Origins: Wolverine in February 2008 and it was in May 2009. He also has acted in "The Bang Bang Club" a Steven Sliver's movie with Ryan Phillipe and Mailn Akerman.
He is currently acting in the movie "John Carter of Mars" with Lynn Collins. This movie is said to hit the screens in 2012.
