A native of Mason City, Iowa, Tanna Frederick started doing local and children's theater in fourth grade. After attending college at the University of Iowa, she headed for California. Tanna wrote to independent director Henry Jaglom asking for an audition. He cast her in his play, "A Safe Place" and then his films "Hollywood Dreams" and "Irene in Time."
Tanna founded the Iowa Film festival in 2007, so she's sure to get back home at least once a year. She is a tae kwon do and surfing enthusiast.
Tanna is currently starring in the hit Henry Jaglom play Just 45 Minutes From Broadway at the Edgemar Center For The Arts in Santa Monica. This comedy/drama revolves around a family of Jewish actors who are down on their luck. Frederick's character, Panda is an actor unlike her "civilian" sister Betsy, played by Julie Davis. When Betsy brings her fiance home, sparks fly. This play is a must-see for artists and civilians alike. Frederick's performance runs the entire emotional gamut from blubbering about life to total exhilaration.

Tanna Frederick is a genius. A great actor with incredible emotional range. She's larger than life on screen and her movies Hollywood Dreams and Irene In Time are both good vehicles for her. Everybody should know the name Tanna Frederick. When I think of her and how outrageous she is on screen, I just start laughing. She's Jim Carrey, Lucille Ball and Steve Martin all rolled into one.
