Tamara Mellon from London was born on July 7, 1967. She was the daughter of Tom Yeardye, who's a successful entrepreneur and Ann (Davis) Yeardye, who's a former Chanel model. Mellon did her education at Heathfield St Mary's School in Berkshire, in Beverly Hills and in Switzerland. In May 2000 she got married to Matthew Taylor Mellon, IV and had a daughter named Araminta. The couple got divorced in 2005.
Mellon started her career at Phyllis Walters Public Relations, Mirabella, and in 1990 as accessories editor for British" Vogue". Identifying the future of high-end designer accessories and with the idea of launching a ready-t
o-wear shoe company she approached Mr Jimmy Choo a bespoke shoe-maker. Mellon became the co-founder of the "Jimmy Choo Company" and to start her business she got funding from her father and started factories in Italy and also an office was opened in order to handle shipping, production and quality control. By 2001, Jimmy Choo had over 100 wholesale clients including Harvey Nichols, Harrods, Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman.
Tamara made her design collaboration with Sandra Choi, the creative director and Mr Choo's wife's niece which got great recognition from other top stores. The Jimmy Choo expanded to such a level that in April 2001 they announced a new partnership with" Equinox Luxury Holdings Ltd". Robert Bensoussan who was the Chief Executive of Equinox's became the CEO of "Jimmy Choo".
Great stars such as Beyonce Knowles have included Jimmy Choo shoes in their songs a number of times and these shoes are also the choice of Hollywood celebrities for red carpet events.
