Svetlana Kuznetsova was born on June 27, 1985 in St. Petersburg, Russia. She is a well known tennis player and World's Number 5 now (2007).
Biography and Career :
Her entire family is related to sport. Her father was a coach of five Olympic and world cycling champions, her mother is a six-time world champion and holds 20 world records and her brother won a silver medalist at the 1996 Summer Olympics. When she was 13 years old her family decided to send her to Spain so that she could receive professional help in tennis.
2004 was the year when she won her first Grand Slam title and the only one until now (2007). It was happening at the US Open and her opponent was Elena Dementieva. She is also a good doubles player and until now she won thirteen titles. As a single tennis pla
yer she won tournaments at Cagliari in 2001, at Helsinki and Wismilak International, Bali in 2002, at Eastbourne and Bali in 2004, at Miami and again Bali in 2006 and at Beijing in 2007. In 2006 she played the final at the French Open, but she was defeated by Justine Henin who was winning there for the third time in her career. She is a tennis player always with a smile on her face.
Her relation with the media and fans has gone great and many people say she is a communicative person. Her talent is obvious and she fights to become World's Number One. She has all the elements to become a champion and nothing can stay in her way.
