Stephen Colbert (full name Stephen Tyrone Colbert) was born on May 13, 1964 in Washington, D.C., United States of America. He is an American comedian, actor and writer.
Biography and Career :
Stephen was born to James Colbert and Lorna Colbert, he has another ten siblings and grew up in Charleston, South Carolina on James Island. He first studied at Charleston's Episcopal Porter-Gaud School and went on to Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia but after two years he was transfered to Northwestern University's School of Communication in order to graduate.
His first performance was at Annoyance Theatre in Chicago and after he went to The Second City improvisational theatre where he worked for a brief period. After leaving The Second City Colbert moved to New York where he worked on "Exit 57", a sketch comedy show. After two years the show was canceled and he started working for "The Dana Carvey Show" as a cast member.
After six months Colbert started working on "Strangers with Candy", a comedy series which was accepted by Comedy Central in 1998. In the same period he also worked on "The Daily Show".
