Biography and Career:
Spike Lee (real name Shelton Jackson Lee) was born in 1957 in Atlanta, Georgia. His father was a jazz musician and his mother taught in a school. At a very early age, Spike shifted to Brooklyn with his family. It was there that Spike was influenced for his future career.
"Joe's Bed-Stuy Barbershop: We Cut Heads", the thesis film of Spike Lee earned him the attention of the producers. After that, he directed, as well as acted in the movie "She's Gotta Have It". His character, Mars Blackman, became quite famous and, later on, Spike appeared in a number of TV advertisements in the role of Blackman.

But he didn't go far from his political thoughts. In the four-episode series on HBO, named "When the Levees Break", he criticized the government for the poor reaction to the Hurricane Katrina.
2008 saw him working on "Miracle at St. Anna", a drama based on the World War II. He also made a documentary on
Michael Jordan and began working on the 2nd part of "Inside Man".
