Shahar Peer

Shahar PeerShahar Peer was born on May 1, 1987 in Jerusalem, Israel. She is a young talented tennis player.

Biography and Career :

Her tennis career started when she was only six years old and after another six years she won her first tournament. She won the Eddie Herr International Doubles title along Nicole Vaidisova. She won the Israeli women's tennis championship in 2001 becoming the youngest Israeli tennis player ever to win it. In the same year she won the 55th annual Ericsson Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships under-14 girls' title.

One year later she was winning the Bat Yam International singles title and the Haifa International doubles tournament. In 2003 she won the Aamata Cup in Thailand and after one year the Australian Open juniors' championship. When she was 19 she had to join the Israeli military, but in the afternoons she was training. The year when she became a professional tennis player is 2004. Since then she won the tournaments at Pattaya City, Prague and Istanbul against Jelena Kostanic Tosic, Samantha Stosur and Anastasia Myskina, all of them in the year 2006.

In 2003 she won the tournaments at Ramat HaSharon and Haifa and in 2004 at Bendigo and Raanana. These are ITF titles. In 2007 she played the quarter-finals at Australian Open and the Miami Masters the semi-finals. At the French Open she managed to play into the fourth round, but stopped there because Kuznetsova beat her.
