Biography and Career
Scott was born in London, England but grew up in Toronto, Canada. He is the child of Roy Speedman who is a department store manager and Mary Campbell, an elementary school teacher and champion runner.
He studied at Earl Haig Secondary School and was a member of the school's swimming team. However, due to neck injury he was forced to quit swimming. To divert his attention to other things he became interested in acting. He enrolled at David Rothenberg acting class to make himself more a competent actor.
His acting career started when he was encouraged by his friend to appear in the 'Speakers Corner', an open-forum show run b
y Toronto's City television. In 1995, he auditioned in 'Batman Forever' to portray the role of Robin unfortunately he was not chosen instead, it was awarded to Chris O'Donnell. This incident pushes him to get an agent.
Scott had his first television series in 1995 entitled 'Net Worth'. He decided to go to New York after doing various television projects to study at Neighborhood Playhouse.
His biggest break was when he was called to audition for a TV series 'Felicity'. Luckily he was considered for the role and portrayed the character of Ben Covington. His impressive acting ability made him really popular and he started to receive offers for more leading roles. In 2000, he had the chance to work with Gwyneth Paltrow in the movie 'Duets'.
When Felicity ends after its 4 years of airing, was very lucky for easily getting movie project. In 2003, he worked with Kurt Russel in the critically acclaimed cop-drama 'Dark Blue'. After the success of the movie, he worked with Sarah Polley in the movie drama 'My Life Without Me'. His excellent performance made him won a Golden Wave Award. On the same year, he did the supernatural thriller movie 'Underworld' with Kate Beckinsale where he played the role of a vampire. His stylized vampire-werewolf photos gained a Saturn Award. In addition, Scott also appeared in the movie 'The 24th Day' with James Marsden, Ice Cube in XXX' State of the Union and the sequel Underworld: Evolution.
