Sarah Siddons (1755-1831) majestic presence made her most suited to tragic and heroic roles such as Lady Macbeth, Zara in Congreve's The Mourning Bride, and Constance in King John.
Short Biography:
She toured the provinces with the company of Roger Kemble, her father, until she appeared in London to immediate acclaim. Her first success in Otway's Venice Preserv'd in 1774 led to her appearing with Garrick at Drury Lane. She continued with success until her retirement in 1812.
