Samuel Goldwyn (1882-1974) was an American film producer.

Short Biography:

Born in Warsaw, he emigrated to the USA 1896. He founded the Goldwyn Pictures Corporation in 1917, precursor of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Company in 1925, later allied with United Artists.

He was famed for his illogical aphorisms known as "goldwynisms", for example "Anyone who visits a psychiatrist should have his head examined".
