Sam Houser was born in 1971 in London, England. As a kid, he had a huge stock of movies, video games, comics etc. After completing schooling, Sam Houser got a job with BMG.
Sam Houser began working as an in-house music video director but, later on, joined the interactive department of BMG in 1994. After 3 years of work, the first version of Grand Theft Auto, the computer game was released. Though the gaming industry had not become very popular at that time, nevertheless, it spread his name as a designer.
Later on, Take Two purchased the interactive wing of BMG and Sam Houser had to move to New York. He was given the responsibility of Rockstar, a new video game publisher, along with hi
s brother Dan.
After that, Grand Theft Auto III was released and it used the first 3D environment in the series. It sold more than other game on the Playstation 2. Sam Houser's next two big works were GTA: San Andreas and then GTA: Vice City.
As the popularity increased, so did the criticism. It was discovered that a piece of code in San Andreas can be used to make a Not Safe For Work film. Thus, Sam Houser was called before the Federal Trade Commission and there he defended the entire gaming industry. When the gamers noticed this he became an idol among them.
In 2008, Grand Theft Auto IV was released. It became the bestselling work of Sam Houser till date as it grabbed $500 million in the first 7 days. With this popularity, major video game production company, Electronic Arts, is looking for buying Rockstar.
