Rutherford B. Hayes (full name Rutherford Birchard Hayes) was born on Friday, October 04, 1822 in Delaware, Ohio, USA and he was an American politician, Military leader and 19th President of the United States.
Biography and Career:
He got his education at Kenyon College and Harvard Law School. After that he started his law practice. When he practiced law for five years in Sandusky, he migrated to Cincinnati and made his identification as a young and talented lawyer.
In the civil war he fought bravely and got very serious and immense injuries. As a result he was given the rank of military general.
He was still in Army, when Cincinnati Republicans tried to persuade him for the post of House of Representatives. He was ready but did not take part in campaign.
He was elec
ted by the support of Heavy Majority and opened the door of congress in December 1865. He also presented his services as General of Ohio.
Loyalty, Patriotism and fair liberalism mad him a strong candidate in 1876.
Rutherford B. Hayes greatly afraid of the well known speakers and believed that democrats will win. At one occasion, he went to bed with great frustration but he was elected by only one vote in the end. It was the most disputed in the history of USA.
Rutherford B. Hayes fully believed in merit and said that his whole cabinet and appointments will be according to merit. There will be no unfair appointments and political influence will be rejected.
He insisted for the protection of Negroes basic rights and also established a local self government which contained wise, honest and hard working people.
Rutherford B. Hayes declared already that he would be able to present his services for one term and then he retired. This honest and kind personality died on 17 January in 1893.
