Romola Garai was born on July 1, 1982 in Hong Kong. She was born to a rich bank executive and journalist mother. She attended excellent schooling in England. She also went to the National Youth Theatre.
Romola got the chance to act in the movie Last of the Bombshells, where she played the role of Judi Dench in 2000. At one time, Romola wanted to continue with her studies and planned to become a journalist like her mother. But she found it hard to cope with studies as well as acting. So she started to focus on acting.
