Richard Burdon Haldane, Viscount Haldane (1856-1928) was a British Liberal politician. Short Biography:
As secretary for war (1905-1912), he sponsored the army reforms that established an expeditionary force, backed by a territorial army and under the unified control of an imperial general staff.
He was Lord Chancellor (1912-1915) and in the Labour government of 1924. His writings on German philosophy led to popular accusations of his being pro-German.
