Richard Gasquet was born on June 18, 1986 in Beziers, France. He is a young, talented tennis player and a great hope for the French tennis.

Biography and Career :

His father had a tennis club and he started playing when he was only four years old. Since 2001 he has been working with Eric Deblicker. He is very talented and when he was nine years old he appeared on the cover of French Tennis Magazine.

He won four titles until now. They were won at Nottingham in 2005 and 2006 and his opponents in the final were Max Mirnyi and Jonas Bjorkman, at Gstaad in 2006 against Feliciano Lopez and at Lyon also in 2006 against Marc Gicquel. In 2005 and 2006 he played the finals of the tournaments in Hamburg and Toronto, but lost to Roger Federer each time. At the US Open he played in the fourth round in 2005 and 2006. In 2007 he played the quarter-final at Wimbledon and the fourth round at the Australian Open, where he lost to Tommy Robredo. At the French Open his best performance was playing in the fourth round in 2005. He is still young and if he is training hard and really desires to have a successful career he has the potential of a great champion. As a doubles player he won one title at Metz in France until now. His partner was Fabrice Santoro, also a French player, and they played against Julian Knowle and Jurgen Melzer from Austria.

On June 11, 2007 he was placed on the eleventh position of Top 100 and it is his highest position in this top. Specialists offer him credit and if he won't suffer any injury he can have a wonderful career, full of successes.
