Richard Phillips Feynman (1918-1988) was an American physicist.

He provided the foundations for the quantum theory of radiation, for which he was awarded a share of the 1965 Nobel Prize for Physics.
As a member of the committee investigating the Challenger space-shuttle disaster in 1986, be demonstrated the lethal faults in the rubber seals on the shuttle's booster rocket.
