Richard Beymer George Richard Beymer, Jr. was born on February 20, 1938 and he is an American actor. He has been playing in movies and television since 1949, possibly best known for playing Tony in the 1961 film version of "West Side Story "and "Benjamin Horne" on the 1990 television series "Twin Peaks."

Biography and Career:

Richard Beymer was born on February 20, 1938 in Avoca, lowa, U.S. His father George Richard Beymer was a printer and son of Eunice (nee Goss). Later in 1940 Beymer and his family moved to Los Angeles, California. In the year 1949, Beymer started his career acting on television. It was at the age of 12 when he first faced the cameras on a children's show in Los Angeles and after two years Beymer made his first appearance in the movie "Vittorio De Sica's Stazione Termi ni (Indiscretion of an American Wife)" (1953).

Richard Beymer has been continuously working on television and movies for over four decades. In the 1950's Beymer began to appear in movies and he also achieved fame in the movies like "So Big (1953)"," Johnny Tremain (1957)", "The Diary of Anne Frank (1959)", and "West Side Story (1961)". In 1957 he acted on the drama syndicated" American Civil War".

In 1961, Beymer had a short term relationship with Sharon Tate who was working in his film in a short role. Later Beymer encouraged her to pursue an acting career, after which she signed a contract with "Filmways". In the year 1962 he also won Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year - Actor.

In 1980, Beymer began to act as a supporting actor and is remembered for his role as Benjamin Horne on David Lynch's television series" Twin Peaks". In 2007 Beymer who was passionate about writing completed his first book a self published novel, Impostor: Or Whatever Happened to Richard Beymer which was a semi- autobiographical.
