Ray Lewis played since he was at the University of Miami as a starter for the Hurricanes. He realized 81 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 tackles for loss and 4 pass deflections.
Ray Lewis was also the person who led the Big East Championship with 152 tackles and contributed with 9 tackles for a loss, 2 sacks and an interception. He was the runner up for the Butkus Award. He finished his junior season with 160 tackles, the 2nd highest in University of Miami team history. When they played against West Virginia University, he contributed with 50 tackles.
In 1996 he was chosen to be the linebacker of Baltimore Ravens, despite his shor
tness. In the same year he leaded the Ravens with 110 tackles and earned USA Today's All Rookie team Honors. In 1997 he recorded an NFL best 184 tackles, earning his first Pro Bowl. In 1998 he recorded again 120 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 interceptions and 7 pass deflection, leading his team for the 3rd time.
