Radek Stepanek was born on November 27, 1978 in Karvina, Czech Republic. He is a tennis player who resides in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
Biography and Career :
Tomas Krupa is his coach and he goes with Radek at all the tournaments and events. In 1996 he became a professional tennis player and since then has won two ATP single tournaments and twelve doubles ATP tournaments.
On July 10, 2006 he was ranked on the 8th position in Top 100 and this is the highest he has ever achieved. In June 2006 in Rotterdam he won the final against Christophe Rochus with the score 6-0, 6-3. One year later in July he won the second title, this time in Los Angeles and his opponent in the final was James Blake.
He played another four final since he turned professional, but lost them all. The first o
ne was played at the Paris AMS and lost to Marat Safin, the second at the tournament in Ho Chi Minh City to Jonas Björkman, the third at Milan lost to Robin Soderling qand the last at the Masters Series Hamburg lost to Tommy Robredo in 2006.
The third round was reached at the Australian Open in 2003, 2005 and 2007, at the French Open in 2005 and 2006 and at the US Open in 2003. His best performance at a Grand Slam tournament was achieved in 2006 at the Wimbledon where he played the quarter-finals.
The doubles titles were won at Munich, Milan, Vienna, Estoril, Prague, Rotterdam, Stuttgart, Dubai, Marseille and Delray Beach. In 2003 and 2004 he won the Czech Open where beat in the finals Mariano Puerta and Michal Tabara.
